A new session of our eight week adult workshops starts this Thursday! Return to a familiar form or try something new in these short term sampler courses. Choose one or both of:
Modern Dance 6:30-7:30: Modern dance tends to be “less structured” than classical ballet, but that does not mean that the class itself is without structure. This class explores an understanding of the movements of the spine, expanded dance vocabulary, alignment, and musicality through full-bodied phrases. Movement vocabulary draws from an influence of Limon, Cunningham, and contemporary styles. The class will expand the dancer’s qualitative range and investigate nuance and detail for greater depth in performance. The emphasis of the class will vary from day to day, but it is always a great way to simultaneously ground and energize yourself toward the end of the week.
(Re)Introduction to Ballet 7:30-8:30: Have you always wanted to try ballet or has it been awhile since you’ve taken a class? In this eight week session, we will explore the basic positions of the arms and legs, the musicality of both lively allegros and luxurious adagios, and the balance and stamina that is essential to the art and sport of ballet. Whether you’re new to the ballet barre or simply wishing to return, we will learn a lot in a fun, supportive environment!
Class runs Thursday, March 16-Thursday, May 11 (no class April 20). Click here to register, or contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
In the wake of the storm, we are happy that we will be able to run classes today (Mon, Feb 13). Stay safe in your travels and we will see you in the studio!
Hello Monday class takers!
Remember that we do not align our cancellations directly with the local public schools. Many times, the considerations of an afternoon/evening program are different than morning school needs. We are watching the next storm system carefully and will make an informed decision that keeps both our students’ safety and progression in mind. Please check back later for more information!
Due to the lingering snowy conditions, we are NOT holding classes Thursday, February 9. Stay warm and we’ll see you next week.
Classes are running as usual on Wednesday, February 8. Please check back later as we make a decision regarding Thursday, February 9. Winter returns!
We may still have two weeks remaining in our first term, but we are gearing up for our Winter/Spring 2017 term here at New England Ballet. We are currently enrolling for all classes and levels for our next 16 week session.
